Arts-X-press is a summer arts immersion program for 7th and 8th grade students created by the Pacific Symphony in celebration of Cole Carsan St.Clair. 150 students are nominated by teachers throughout Orange County to come together for 5 days of creative exploration each summer. The program has two goals: 1) To expose students to all 5 performing and visual arts; and 2) To foster respect for and interest in each student’s individuality, talents, interests, and background.

Come Volunteer at the Musical Carnival!

Hello Everyone!

I have a great volunteering opportunity about which to tell you! Saturday, October 20, 2007 is our first Family Musical Mornings Concert of the season. We always need lots of volunteers for these concerts and we are now welcoming volunteers ages 12 years and older!
The time commitment for volunteering is 8am – 1pm on Saturday, October 20th. As you can see, if you are earning volunteer hours for your school in one quick morning you will have racked up 5 hours of community service! And don’t worry, we DEFINITELY offer snacks for our volunteers!

We have several ways that people can help us at our Family Concerts. Some volunteers will help greet families as they come into the concert hall and make them feel welcome. Other volunteers will help lead hands-on activities and games for children to play. Still other volunteers will act as guides for groups of families who attend our concerts. There is a lot to do and it is a great time as well! Here’s a description of the concert:
· Prepare for a concert of spooky thrills and musical chills at this spooktacular treat of a concert! Patrons will be wearing costumes for this popular Halloween celebration!

Please contact me at musicalcarnival@pacificsymphony.org if you are interested in volunteering for the Family Concert on October 20th. I will send you all the information you need. If you enjoy this opportunity, we have several more concerts throughout the school year at which you can join us! Hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
Darci Dembik

Community Day a Success!

Hi Everyone!

Thanks to all of you who volunteered with us at the Community Arts Festival on September 30th! It was so much fun to see you after the summer and catch up. Some of you are so much taller than the last time we saw you.

The Community Arts Festival was a wonderful time to get together. We helped children and their families participate in activities like making instruments out of paper plates, coloring, playing violins, face painting, and meeting musicians. All of us had important jobs and it was a big effort in teamwork to make the whole day come together successfully.

We could not have had such great activities without your help. Thanks for joining us and we hope you will volunteer with us again soon!

Warmly,
Rachel
