Arts-X-press is a summer arts immersion program for 7th and 8th grade students created by the Pacific Symphony in celebration of Cole Carsan St.Clair. 150 students are nominated by teachers throughout Orange County to come together for 5 days of creative exploration each summer. The program has two goals: 1) To expose students to all 5 performing and visual arts; and 2) To foster respect for and interest in each student’s individuality, talents, interests, and background.

Hillary Sings Solo with Pacific Chorale!

Happy Belated Holidays!

Right before the holiday break in December I had the pleasure of attending the Pacific Chorale concert titled “’Tis The Season!” It was a fantastic concert featuring many holiday favorites including a sing-a-long of Handel’s Halleluiah Chorus.

What was especially fun about the concert though, in addition to the beautiful music, was seeing so many friends from arts-X-press! Vocal Music Instructor Brandon Brack sings in the tenor section and Vocal Music Spotlight Workshop Presenters Carver Cossey and Rob Istad both perform in the bass section.

Best by far, however, was seeing Hillary, arts-X-press alum from 2005 singing in the children’s chorus. And you might imagine my surprise when I saw Hillary listed in the program book as a soloist in the concert! Hillary sang a truly delightful solo during A Christmas Alleluia. I was so proud to see her taking creative risks and singing in front of such a large crowd. There must have been at least 1,000 people in the audience!

During intermission I was able to go backstage and get my picture taken with Hillary. I felt like her groupie! Please help me extend our arts-X-press congratulations to Hillary on her awesome performance!

If you have neat things happening in your life and you would like other arts-X-pressers to know about it, please e-mail us at
arts-X-press@pacificsymphony.org. We love to come and see your performances or post pictures of you on the blog.

Warmly,
Rachel
