Arts-X-press is a summer arts immersion program for 7th and 8th grade students created by the Pacific Symphony in celebration of Cole Carsan St.Clair. 150 students are nominated by teachers throughout Orange County to come together for 5 days of creative exploration each summer. The program has two goals: 1) To expose students to all 5 performing and visual arts; and 2) To foster respect for and interest in each student’s individuality, talents, interests, and background.

Laguna!

Hey there AXP parentals! Counselor Alie here, reporting from an excellent day yesterday down at Laguna Beach. We spent the whole day exploring the Festival of the Arts and the Pageant of the Masters. At the Festival, the kids were able to try out three different forms of visual arts: mixed media scratch art, print making, and painting Raku pots. Watching the students get so into their projects was very exciting, and I know they are stoked to show you all their masterpieces and tell you more about their experiences. After we made these projects, we got the chance to walk around and look at all of the exhibits in the Festival, ranging from photography to nail art to magnetic sculptures. The students were excited to talk to the resident artists who were happy to share all about the inspirations from their work. After that, we walked up to Heisler park, where we ate some pizza and prepared for their talent show acts. We then went back down to the Festival, where we were seated for the Pageant of the Masters, a show where pictures are brought to life in giant life sized replicas and real people as the subjects! The students were in awe as the spectacular show unfolded before them- it was a very special moment!

Anyways, the students are getting very excited to see you all tonight at the PARENT PRESENTATION. Be sure to be there to see the incredible growth your young artist has experienced while here! See you there!
