Arts-X-press is a summer arts immersion program for 7th and 8th grade students created by the Pacific Symphony in celebration of Cole Carsan St.Clair. 150 students are nominated by teachers throughout Orange County to come together for 5 days of creative exploration each summer. The program has two goals: 1) To expose students to all 5 performing and visual arts; and 2) To foster respect for and interest in each student’s individuality, talents, interests, and background.

Day 2!

Greetings friends and family! Creative Expression teacher Alie here to report on our time at AxP so far! The last 24 hours have been so packed that it feels more like we have been here for a week! In creative expression, we have been diving in to our theme of IMAGINATION and how it plays out in the lives of artists and the stories they tell.

It has been so much fun watching the students start to use their imaginations as we play games like "Imagine if...", listen to songs and come up with stories for them, and writing poetry that fits into the song "Imagination."
The students have already grown so much and taken many creative risks in the past 24 hours, and we are so excited to continue watching them shine! This is a very gifted bunch of students!

In a few hours, we will be off to watch "Mary Poppins" and I am sure you can imagine (sorry, I had to) what a great time we will have!

Until next time!
