Arts-X-press is a summer arts immersion program for 7th and 8th grade students created by the Pacific Symphony in celebration of Cole Carsan St.Clair. 150 students are nominated by teachers throughout Orange County to come together for 5 days of creative exploration each summer. The program has two goals: 1) To expose students to all 5 performing and visual arts; and 2) To foster respect for and interest in each student’s individuality, talents, interests, and background.

And We Can't Stoooooop (and we don't want to)

On this final day of Arts-X-Press we still had a very full day!
The kids got to interact with musicians and even try out being composers and conductors.
Campers were especially excited for the parent presentation. They presented the activities they have worked on in their arts workshops and creative expression groups in front of their loving audience members (made up of lots of family members). The performances ranged from poetry, stories about themselves, and being able to incorporate the various skills they learned into their artwork. Sharing what they did in the arts workshops, the campers demonstrated their warm up routines or games, and showed their performance. They also showcased their writing abilities with their creative expression groups by finally revealing the projects that they had created.

After the parent presentation, the students shared their individual talents with their peers by either performing in a solo, duet, trio, etc. There was a large variety of unique artistry among the 35 students ranging from tap dancing, singing, the macarena, and yes--a lot of "Let it Go".

To wrap up the final full day of the second session of Arts X-Press, the campers were surprised to walk to a party created by the counselors to end their final moments on a splendiforous note. (We're so fancy, you already know)

On the first day when the campers got on the bus, they appeared to be shy, not knowing anyone, but they quickly grew together into one big Arts x-Press family. Now they exude confidence, radiate self-esteem, and can embrace all the different sides of art.
