Today was a fun-filled day of activities at Arts-X-Press. The campers woke up excited for the talent show and parent presentation. They enjoyed another delicious breakfast at the cafeteria, before they were dismissed to Creative Expression and then Arts Workshop classes. In these classes, the campers worked hard preparing for the parent presentation. Then the campers were dismissed to lunch, where they had the opportunity to eat with musicians from the Pacific Symphony Orchestra! After lunch, the musicians led a workshop for the campers. The musicians played selections of classical pieces written for violin, flute, and upright bass. The musicians showed the campers different parts of their instruments, and explained how they can get their instruments to make certain sounds. Then the campers had the opportunity to compose their own piece of music! The musicians played the camper's composition for them, and then it was time for a percussion workshop led by Kjersti. The campers all played in a drum circle and learned to make music as a team.
Afterwards, it was time for dinner before the big parent presentation! The campers changed into their AXP shirts and met on the lawn for singing and pre-show bonding. The campers headed over to the performance hall for the parent presentation. The campers rocked the parent presentation and got a chance to see their families afterwards. And then it was time for the talent show. The acts ranged from hilarious skits, to visual arts, and even a surprise song by our counselors! The students had a blast at talent show, but the fun was not over yet! The counselors surprised the campers with a party! The campers and counselors got funky on the dance floor and everyone had loads of fun. Then it was time for bed. The students took their very last three minute showers, and hopped in bed. They did so many fun things today, that they fell right asleep! This is counselors Julia and Rebecca signing off!
