Arts-X-press is a summer arts immersion program for 7th and 8th grade students created by the Pacific Symphony in celebration of Cole Carsan St.Clair. 150 students are nominated by teachers throughout Orange County to come together for 5 days of creative exploration each summer. The program has two goals: 1) To expose students to all 5 performing and visual arts; and 2) To foster respect for and interest in each student’s individuality, talents, interests, and background.

Session One Day Three

On Monday, after spending the morning on UCI campus for their Creative Expression class, Arts Workshop and lunch, everyone l got on the arts-X-press Party Bus and ventured to Laguna Beach.
When we arrived at the Festival of the Arts grounds, all of the students got a backstage tour of the Pageant of the Masters. They got the chance to tour the dressing rooms where the performers all get into their makeup and costume along with having the opportunity to go upstairs and see all the backgrounds that are transformed into art onstage. Following the backstage tour, all the students got the chance to do three different art projects: printmaking, a mixed media project and paint a Raku pot. They all created marvelous artwork that you will all be impressed by...

Then we walked to a park in Laguna to have our pizza picnic. While we were there, Carl St. Clair and his family, met up with us and got the opportunity to sit and talk with the students a bit more.

When we headed on back to the Festival grounds, all the students were getting excited to see the Pageant of the Masters. As the sun set, the performance began as all our arts-X-pressers sat and enjoyed the show. It was a late night so we all headed back to the dorms and quickly fell asleep.

Your students are getting very excited to show you all their hard work they've done this week in their Creative Expression and Arts Workshop at the Parent Presentation on Tuesday at 6:45 PM.
