Arts-X-press is a summer arts immersion program for 7th and 8th grade students created by the Pacific Symphony in celebration of Cole Carsan St.Clair. 150 students are nominated by teachers throughout Orange County to come together for 5 days of creative exploration each summer. The program has two goals: 1) To expose students to all 5 performing and visual arts; and 2) To foster respect for and interest in each student’s individuality, talents, interests, and background.

Hey y'all, AXP counselors Jordan and Erica here! Day 3 of camp was a huge success, starting with Creative Expression and Arts Workshop, working on the final elements for the parent presentation. After lunch and some games, we loaded the buses to head over to Laguna Beach for the Festival of the Arts. Not only were we able to browse the galleries of SoCal's best artists, but we also had the opportunity to create our own pieces of art at three different exhibits. The most exciting exhibit was the raku pot making station, where we painted our own clay pots to take home. After an exciting afternoon at the Festival of the Arts, we headed up to Heisler Park to play a giant game of flute flute drum (the AXP version of duck duck goose) and eat a pizza dinner overlooking the ocean. As the night rolled in, we walked back to the Festival of the Arts to watch the Pageant of the Masters. We were all blown away by the actors' ability to stand still for a whole 90 seconds, even though we were all the way at the top of the bleachers and had to take turns watching the show through binoculars! All the kids went right to bed after another packed day, resting up for our last full day tomorrow. Cant wait to see all you parents tomorrow!
