Arts-X-press is a summer arts immersion program for 7th and 8th grade students created by the Pacific Symphony in celebration of Cole Carsan St.Clair. 150 students are nominated by teachers throughout Orange County to come together for 5 days of creative exploration each summer. The program has two goals: 1) To expose students to all 5 performing and visual arts; and 2) To foster respect for and interest in each student’s individuality, talents, interests, and background.

WELCOME- From Edward's CE Class Arts X-Press Week One.

Today our CE Class studied the concept of the 6,000 Word essay prompt.

(well... technically they looked at 6 famous works of art to inspire their writing- But since a picture is worth a thousand words....)

"Tell us the story that is being depicted in these works of art".  Quoth I,

"Who are the characters depicted? "

What is going on?  Write out your story to share with the world.

Now a twist.... A change in the realm of the POSSIBILITY you have presented.... Shuffle the papers around and give these to brand new people

They now get to pick up where you left off, but with their own new take on the story.  Is the twist moving to make the story positive? Negative? Happy? Sad? Scary?

                                                       Only The Shadow Knows!!!!

                                                              Well.... actually......
Only our Arts X-Pressers know, and only they will  determine the Possibilities.....
We are having a wonderful time, sharing writing, Talking about Guatemalan Best Friends and Matador Capes.  Creativity through Poetry and Writing abound.  We're off to a super- fun excursion later today- with lots more inspiration for tomorrow!!!!
